We knew it was coming. At I/O, it finally became real.

Google just redefined how product and business discovery will work moving forward. Get ready for Gemini Agent Mode.

And make no mistake, OpenAI/ChatGPT and Anthropic/Claude won’t be far behind. They already have agents for software engineering use cases, so broad consumer applications are clearly next.

Remember the world before internet traffic was the holy grail? Before popups, banner ads, and penny CPCs? How did you find trusted businesses and services then?

Your new top trusted companion will be AI. It will likely be better, on average, than the sum of your personal network. It will be instant. And, it will act on your behalf with minimal transparency into its decision-making process.

We’re moving to a model where businesses must optimize for these powerful AI agents. The platforms will balance their own stickiness against monetization, creating avenues for paid influence – whether directly via the agent platform or subtly embedded as bias within their knowledge bases and data sources.

So, what does this mean for your business?
